On Thursday, August 9th at 6pm at the Millville Public Library when Anthony Johnson and Dr. Cheryl Gooch will present a program based on the book, Together Let Us Sweetly Live: The Singing and Praying Bands by Jonathan C. David. They will offer a rare look at the unique grassroots African American religious institutions called the “Singing and Praying Bands” of the early nineteenth century, with a fusion of Methodist prayer meeting worship and African religious dance and song traditions.
