Bay Atlantic Symphony’s Season Finale Is A True Classic
Saying you’re “Saving The Best for Last” may be clichéd, but that doesn’t make it any less accurate or, in this case, entertaining.
When the Bay Atlantic Symphony takes to the stage at the beautiful Landis Theater on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 3 p.m. for its season finale, its Musical Director and Maestro Jed Gaylin promises it will be a performance that revels in crisp powerful gesture, romping fun, and vivacious muscularity—oh, and also American lyricism without apology.
Following a pre-concert conversation with Gaylin at 2 p.m., the audience will be treated to a program featuring Amanda Harberg — World Premiere, Barber — Violin Concerto by virtuoso Alexi Kenney, and Beethoven — Symphony No.6 (Pastorale).
Named “a talent to watch” by The New York Times, Kenney was the 2016 recipient of a Avery Fisher Career Grant. Dubbed a poet of the violin, his range has been described from achingly fragile to full-bodied robustness.
Born in 1994 in Palo Alto, California, and a graduate of Boston’s New England Conservatory, Kenney has performed as soloist with the Columbus, Detroit, Santa Fe, Portland, Jacksonville and Amarillo symphonies. He has also appeared in recital in the Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, in Carnegie Hall’s ‘Distinctive Debuts’ series, the Dame Myra Hess Concerts in Chicago, and at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., the Dame Myra Hess Concerts in Chicago.
The Landis Theater is located in New Jersey’s Heartland at 830 E. Landis Avenue Vineland, NJ 08360 Tickets for the concert can be purchased by calling 856.691.3600 or visiting https://tickets.vendini.com.
