Tai Cooper New Jersey Economic Development Authority
A Newark resident, Ms. Cooper, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Planning from The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. Ms. Cooper has a wealth of political experience and has worked for more than a decade in senior-level positions in federal and municipal government.
In 2017 Ms. Cooper was hired to serve as the Deputy Chief Policy Advisor to the Office of the Governor and led the Federal Opportunity Zone initiative for the state. Most recently, she was asked to lead the newly formed Policy, Planning, and Research team at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. In her newly formed role at EDA, Cooper has been tasked with leading their enhanced engagement strategy, which will include strengthening ties with policy-makers at the federal, state and local level as they look to advance strategies, research, and data that will help drive equitable and inclusive economic development policies and programs, with a specific focus on innovating and generating greater social impact.
