Celebrate Peace on Earth At Main Street Vineland Christmas Parade on November 28
One of downtown Vineland’s major events of the year will again bring added festivity to the Thanksgiving weekend as the annual Main Street Vineland Christmas Parade returns to downtown Landis Avenue—The Ave—on Saturday, November 28, at 5 p.m., with the rain date of Sunday, November 29, at the same time.
Organized by Main Street Vineland, with Century Savings Bank as the major sponsor, and Lidl and Newfield National Bank as supporting sponsors, this year’s parade will have the theme “Peace on Earth” and will feature a float contest, marching bands, and much more. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in both the “Large Float” and “Petite Float” categories.
The parade will proceed on Landis Avenue through the downtown toward Myrtle Street.
COVID-related safety measures will be in place, including social distance and wearing of masks or face coverings for spectators and participants.
To promote the theme of peace and calm during these turbulent times, floats this year are to be decorated to honor persons in history who have worked toward the spread of peace in our world, such as Jesus, Moses, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, or any other choice, past or present.
Registration for participates and vendor applications will be through the Main Street Vineland website—www.TheAve.biz.
“With all the conflicts, challenges, and other troubles our world is facing now, we decided on a parade theme to promote peace, calm, and a spirit of togetherness,” said Main Street Vineland Executive Director Russell Swanson. “We are rolling the message out especially early to provide some upbeat news and to get people to start thinking positively. The Christmas Parade, being one of the biggest downtown events of the year, is just right for this focus.”
Everyone is urged—after the turkey, football, and Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping—to come out and enjoy the fun.
If you were planning to register for the parade, please hurry! Registration ends soon!! Registration for parade participants is free and all registrations must be received by received by Friday, November 20. Food vendor applications must be received by Friday, November 13. Registration is required to participate in the parade and no registrations will be allowed the night of the parade. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
