Vineland history program to take ‘a new look at some familiar places’
On Saturday, August 7, guest speaker,
Local geologist and teacher Mark Demitroff will present a PowerPoint program titled “Old Vineland: A New Look at Some Familiar Places” 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society, 108 S. Seventh St. in Vineland.
Demitroff, who teaches a class on the history of the Pine Barrens at Stockton University, will discuss place name origins and the interactions between the people and the land they inhabited before Charles K. Landis founded Vineland 160 years ago.
The program will be presented in-person at the museum and virtually on Zoom. Admission is free but a $5 donation is suggested.
