WHAT IS ANTI-SEMITISM? THE CHALLENGES FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW TOPIC OF ZOOM WORKSHOP PRESENTATION ON NOVEMBER 2
Virtual Presentation by Dr. Michael Berenbaum
Internationally Esteemed Scholar, Professor, Writer, and Filmmaker
Reservations Required
Anti-Semitism continues to be a major problem society—in the United States and worldwide—which presents challenges academically, socially, and culturally. What is anti-Semitism and its root causes? What accounts for its spread? How has the complex nature of ant-Semitism changed over the years? For teachers, how should it be taught, in order to inform and enlighten the next generation? For students, how should these lessons be learned to build a more tolerant, stable, inclusive society? How can the rest of us learn these lessons and move toward eradicating this problem? These questions grow more important as we approach the 83rd anniversary of the tragedy of Kristallnacht (“The Night of Broken Glass”) in Nazi Germany and, in our own time, the third anniversary of the mass shooting at the Temple of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
These issues and others will be discussed in a Zoom presentation, free and open to teachers, students, and the public, on Tuesday, November 2, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., entitled “What is Anti-Semitism? The Challenges for Today and Tomorrow.”
This presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session, is presented by South Jersey Holocaust Coalition and by New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, with additional funding from One Jewish Community—Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties.
