Jorge Fornia is so much more than just a young man with autism who lives in Egg Harbor City. He’s a model of hard work, caring and giving – the personification of a New Jersey Heartland Hero.

Through a program for disabled adults, Jorge works at one of the resort properties in Atlantic City about 20 minutes from his home. His Mom explains that, “We take him to and from work everyday and, in his travels, he has seen there are people in the world who are less fortunate and sometimes need a helping hand.”

So Jorge decided to take money from each of his pay checks and donate to help people and local charities in New Jersey’s Heartland. “He isn’t rich, but he takes his hard earned check and does something nice for people in the community,” his Mom added.

And that’s why we wanted to do something nice for Jorge, and recognize him as a true New Jersey Heartland Hero!
