Laurie Zaleski

Founding Funny Farm Rescue did more than just fulfill the dreams of Laurie Zaleski’s mother. Located in Mays Landing, Funny Farm Rescue has become a home where unwanted farm animals and animals with special needs are welcome to live out their natural lives.

Every year, millions of animals throughout the country are euthanized, mostly due to the lack of homes or old age. Knowing how difficult it is to find shelters that are able to take in unwanted farm animals helped motivate Laurie to establish her animal sanctuary.

Funny Farm is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charity organization, which cares for more than 150 animals on its 15-acre farm. Laurie has devoted her time to ensure that unwanted farm animals have food, shelter, medical care, compassion, and love all provided in a healthy and safe environment.

For all her hard work and selfless actions, we are happy to name Laurie Zaleski a Heartland Hero.
