Deep Sea Diver John Moyer to Speak at Vineland Historical & Antiquarian Society

John Moyer, who holds exclusive salvage rights to the Andrea Doria, one of the most famous shipwrecks in the world, will discuss dives to that fabled ship, beginning with his first one in 1982. The ship, named after a famous Italian sea captain, was once billed as “an art gallery on the ocean, filled with paintings, murals, tapestries and sculpture”.

The Andrea Doria, often described as one of the most luxurious ships ever to sail, sank off Nantucket Island, MA In July 1956 after it collided with the Swedish vessel Stockholm..

Mr. Moyer has lectured on the Andrea Doria at the Explorers Club in Philadelphia and New York City and has been featured in numerous books and magazines. He has appeared on the History Channel, A&E Network, , and Dateline NBC. He also appeared in the film, “Andrea Doria: Are the Passengers Saved?”

Mr. Moyer will give his presentation at the VHAS museum, 108 S. Seventh st. at 2:00 p.m. Sat. Feb. 25. Admission is $2.00 and refreshments will be served. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Ample free parking nearby.
