From Arts & Crafts to Food & Wine and Fun for the Kids, there’s a world of great events, festivals, fairs and fitness events in New Jersey’s Heartland. Here is a listing of all of the upcoming events.
Alt-Americana band FolkFaces, with rowdy blues and rootsy jazz from Buffalo, NY will headline a fundraising concert Friday, March 3rd, 8 p.m. at Stockton University Campus Center Theater to benefit the Memorial Stacy Moore Hagan Estuarine Internship in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
Folkfaces are a band that blends folk music, the blues and hot jazz with current issues to make old-timey tunes that will wake the dead. Folkfaces music is a combination of early 20th century hokum, jugband style and original foot-stomping good times. Specializing in merriment and sticking it to the system (with a combination of rowdy folk music and equal-opportunity roasting), folkfaces make the crowd dance, and the hierarchy shatter.
The concert benefits a memorial undergraduate marine science internship named for Stockton graduate and former West Creek resident Stacy Hagan. Two $2,500 scholarships provide an eight-week summer research experience for students interested in pursuing graduate studies or entry-level technician positions in marine science. Opportunities are available at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station in Tuckerton and the Stockton Nacote Creek Marine Field Station in Port Republic.
