Appel Farm Arts & Music Campus Announces Regional Poetry Out Loud Contest
Elmer, New Jersey – Appel Farm Arts & Music Campus Announces Region 2 New Jersey Poetry Out Loud™ Contest. On Thursday,February 20th at 9:30 AM, 6 students from South Jersey will compete. The winner of this competition will advance to the State Poetry Out Loud contest, and the state champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud national finals on April 28-29, 2020 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed.
Poetry Out Loud, presented in partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry— both classic and contemporary—through memorization, performance, and competition. Since the program began in 2005, more than 3.8 million students and 60,000 teachers from 16,000 schools across the country have participated in Poetry Out Loud.
Appel Farm is thrilled to parter with schools to shine a light on the creative kids in South Jersey!
