Bill Robinson
Bill Robinson is a passionate cyclist and volunteer. He supports a number charities, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Urban Promise, and the Gloucester County Special Services Education Foundation (GCSSEF).
The GCSSEF sponsors The RIDE, an annual event now in its fifth year. The RIDE is a 10-, 25-, and 50-mile cycling event through the scenic farmlands and vineyards of New Jersey’s Heartland’s Gloucester County. It is no coincidence that Bill’s dedication and enthusiasm has had a major impact in steadily growing the event since 2011. His cycling knowledge and experience has attracted cyclists and raised awareness for the families of special needs children in the Gloucester County Special Services School District and surrounding counties.
Bill works his magic throughout the year, seeking endless donations and sponsorships in support of the event and the GCSSEF programs, which include respite care, social skills and workshops for families and professionals. In 2013, his persistence, dedication and vision literally turned the event around, transforming this Gloucester County fundraising program into a premier cycling event.
In October 2015, at the Volunteer Center of South Jersey’s Spirit of Community Event, Bill earned the Volunteer of Year Award from GCSSEF, along with the Presidential Gold Award in recognition of his more than 250 hours of service in 2015.
The RIDE is such an important event to so many communities within New Jersey’s Heartland. Without Bill, it would not exist, which makes him a true Heartland Hero.
