Can You Believe It’s Been 51 Days?
Hello NJ Heartlanders,
It’s been 51 days since Clarifi entered lock down. In that time we’ve been able to:
- Shift 21 financial counselors from face-to-face sessions to all remote
- Present 4 interactive online financial literacy workshops for 104 participants
- Counsel 993 of our neighbors throughout the region
But our clients have done even more:
- 60 reduced their unsecured debt by 10% or more
- 318 met emergency savings goals that will help them weather this crisis
- 94 improved their budgeting skills
- 79 improved their credit score by 35 points or more
As important as these numbers are, we never forget that behind each of them is a real person with a real story. Like Nora, a woman in her late 20s that relies on income from substitute teaching and driving for a ride share company. With the pandemic, she has lost almost all of her income. Nora’s counselor Alicia worked with her to get payments on her credit card and car loan deferred so she would have a little room to breathe. “And, I reminded her that this is a struggle that the whole world is facing and that she just needs to take it one day at a time,” said Alicia.
