Creativity CoLaboratory Charter School Ready to Open in September
Creativity CoLaboratory Charter School at Appel Farm (C3) is steaming ahead to welcome students into New Jersey’s first arts integrated middle school for this fall.Founder, Cori Solomon, and the Board are thrilled to announce that Lori Vilary, J.D., has been hired as the Principal and Director. Ms. Vilary brings eleven years of hands-on knowledge in education and school leadership to this critical role. With experience as Assistant Principal in the Cape May County Special Services School District, a coordinator and teacher for students with disabilities in Logan Township and Woodstown, NJ, and general counsel for a corporate marketing firm, Ms. Vilary is excited to utilize her unique skill set to further the mission of Creativity CoLaboratory and encourage students to become their best selves. “I’ve been searching for an educational leadership position closer to my home in Salem County that would embrace my creativity and ability to think outside the box to individualize learning for students. I’m passionate about education and I’m driven to deliver high-quality work in a school that embraces individuality and creativity while building students’ self-confidence,” said Lori Vilary, Creativity CoLaboratory Principal. The team at Creativity CoLaboratory has taken great strides forward in preparation of opening the school in September, 2019, including gaining all of the necessary approvals from the State and the Department of Education. Creativity CoLaboratory Founder and Appel Farm’s Executive Director, Cori Solomon, said, “I am 100% confident that the school will induct its first classes of students in September, 2019 and that every student and family connected to us through this community will experience an amazing school year.” New Jersey Department of Education officials conducted a Preparedness Site Visit in May, citing that C3 has met the critical requirements with regard to the school board, facilities, program, and policies. Successful fire, safety and health inspections were also conducted in May, ensuring that the school meets all of the necessary regulations to keep our students healthy and safe. With only a few open seats for rising 8th graders, the other 93 of the 96 students enrolled are sure to be thriving in September. Creativity CoLaboratory, the state’s first arts integrated charter school, focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) fields and is open to middle school students who wish to explore their world through hands-on, project-based learning. In alignment with the New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards, C3 provides students with the skills and tools needed to thrive in the 21st Century – creativity, innovation, communication, collaboration – which will better prepare them for the professional world of the future.
