EmpowerCorps
Our latest Heartland Hero is awarded to a group of inspirational individuals serving in the EmpowerCorps branch of the AmeriCorps. These fourteen people have dedicated their time to lifting up and empowering high school students to fulfill their dreams. With a strong commitment to the Families to College program, these volunteers support the integrity, independence and well-being of these students and their families. The EmpowerCorps members serve at various sites in the Bridgeton area, including Bridgeton High School, Families to College Campus Center and the ALMS Center.
Through the outreach of this dedicated and ambitious group of people, the students of Cumberland County have found inspiration, motivation and life-changing guidance to attain their dreams and achieve higher learning. This diverse group of stipend-paid volunteers brings so many important skills to the table, skills and attributes which really resonate with the youth they serve. Many of these individuals are college-age, so they are not much older than the students they serve, but their maturity, wisdom and commitment make them wise beyond their years. These dedicated individuals go above and beyond for their students every day and it is seen by all who have the pleasure to know and work with them.
Their relentless spirit and commitment to the youth of Cumberland County is commendable and certainly deserving of the honor of Heartland Hero. So, to Caitlin Amer, Ben Garton, Ashley Henry, Jeffrey Hines, Bob Hadley, Hikeem Pruitt, Dovonte Johnson, Maribel Juarez, Anayeli Gonzalez , Leslie Huerta, Perla Perez, Sianni Kates, Moises Marrero and Jovany Pantaleon, we congratulate and honor you. Thank you for all you do!
