What was the psychological impact on Holocaust survivors after being freed from the German concentration camps after World War II? What was the experience of liberation like, against a tragic background of destruction and suffering? What was it like to begin a life all over again amid the rubble, often alone?
This will be explored at a workshop, free and open to the public, on Wednesday, November 14, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the George P. Luciano Conference & Events Center, Cumberland County College, 3322 College Drive, Vineland, NJ.
This workshop, entitled “Coming Out of the Darkness: Survival, Liberation, and Re-entry,” is presented by The South Jersey Holocaust Coalition, the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties, and Cumberland County College.
The presentation, sponsored by The South Jersey Holocaust Coalition, the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, and the Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester & Salem Counties, is free and open to the public. It will take place on Wednesday, November 14, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the George P. Luciano Conference & Events Center, at Cumberland County College, 3322 College Drive, Vineland, NJ.
The facilitator for the workshop will be Anthony Iaconelli, a teacher and administrator at St. Augustine Preparatory School in Richland since 1985 and currently the chairperson of the school’s History Department that created the school’s History/Genocide course.
Harry Furman, Esq., Chairman of the Coalition–a former Vineland Public Schools social studies teacher who, in 1976, pioneered the first high school semester course in New Jersey on the Holocaust and Genocide, “The Conscience of Man.”
Professional Development (PD) hours are available and registration for those PD hours is required.
