Genealogical Society of Salem County Presents a program on “Early Salem County Industries”

Presented by Andrew Coldren, who is the Administrator Curator of the Salem County Historical Society.

Among the industries that will be covered will be the Wistarburgh Glass Works, the first major glass manufacturing company in the United States. Also included is Diamond pottery, which made earthenware bottles, plates, and other goods in Salem, New Jersey. The Reeves Brothers shipyard in Alloway, New Jersey, was building watercraft as small as fishing boats to as large as steam ships. The talk will cover these and more examples of the early growth of industry and manufacture in our area.  This program is free and open to the public.
