From Arts & Crafts to Food & Wine and Fun for the Kids, there’s a world of great events, festivals, fairs and fitness events in New Jersey’s Heartland. Here is a listing of all of the upcoming events.
Harvest Festival 2024 at The Olde Stone House Historic Village
Harvest Festival takes place on Saturday, September 28, from 10 am – 2 pm. The public is welcome to learn and enjoy features of Colonial New Jersey in an authentic setting. The Olde Stone House Village consists of historic buildings ─ a residence, a church, a post office, and a railroad station ─ moved from their original local sites to join the Morgan House in Washington Township.
Harvest Festival features costumed artisans and volunteers demonstrating historic crafts, including a weaver, a blacksmith, and a basket-maker. At the main house, there is open-hearth cooking, candle-dipping, cornhusk doll-making, and an heirloom garden.
Local author Kat Lindsay portrays Harriet Tubman, a prominent figure in the Underground Railroad. Beck’s Band plays in Civil War costume, while the 12th NJ Regiment encamps on the grounds. For children, choose from a hayride, colonial games, and pumpkin-painting.
A popular feature is the Railroad Station, which displays history and artifacts of South Jersey’s railroads.
The Olde Stone House Village is at 208 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. The event is free and donations are gratefully accepted. More information is available at:
