DESCRIPTION:Americana Folk Band to Headline Benefit Concert for Memorial Marine Science Scholarship at Stockton \n         GALLOWAY – 5-piece modern-folk Americana act\, The Way Down Wanderers will headline a concert April. 7th\, 8 p.m. at Stockton University Campus Center to benefit the Stacy Moore Hagan Memorial Estuarine Internship Operating Fund at the University. \nEqual parts fast-paced and soulful\, The Way Down Wanderers draw listeners in with energy\, originality and soulful generosity.  Playing\, performing and writing together for just 3 short years\, the Wanderers have built an enthusiastic and fast-growing following. Youthful and professionally trained\, captivated audiences hear soaring instrumentals\, foot stomping sing-alongs and have created a buzz for themselves with their unplugged propensity for performing self-titled\, “restSTOMPS” – free acoustic sets at rest & truck stops along their tour routes. The band’s debut\, self-titled album\, produced by Mike Marsh of the Avett Brothers is now available wherever music is sold. \nThe concert benefits a memorial undergraduate marine science internship operating fund named for Stockton graduate and former West Creek resident Stacy Hagan. Two $2\,500 scholarships provide an eight-week summer research experience for students interested in pursuing graduate studies or entry-level technician positions in marine science. Opportunities are available at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station in Tuckerton and the Stockton Nacote Creek Marine Field Station in Port Republic. \nStacy Hagan was a marine research scientist at the Rutgers University Marine Field Station for 17 years when she died in 2007. “Her successful career in marine science was made possible by a cooperative internship offered through Stockton and we want other hard-working Stockton students who enjoy field work to follow in Stacy’s footsteps\,” said Roland Hagan\, Rutgers University Marine Field Station Operations Coordinator\, who established the scholarship in 2008 in memory of his late wife. \nAccording to Hagan\, to date\, 15 students were awarded $37\,500 in scholarship monies through the Stockton Foundation. \nThe April 7th benefit concert is presented by Folk Across the Street productions. The ticket price\, $20 in advance\, $25 at the door and $10 with student ID\, will support the internship program.
