SUMMARY:An Afternoon with The Duprees at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman
DESCRIPTION:An Afternoon with The Duprees\nJune 26\, 2022 at 2PM \nTHE DUPREES are known the world over for their romantic interpretations of some of the most beautiful love songs ever written. They have made a career out of giving new life to the big band standards and old hits. If you take the Glenn Miller arrangements of the 1940s along with the tunes of Joni James\, Frank Sinatra\, Jo Stafford\, Nat King Cole\, (just to name a few) and the vocal harmonies of Tom Petillo\, Phil Granito\, and Jimmy Spinelli and put them together\, you have the sound of THE DUPREES. \nThe group\, originally from Jersey City\, New Jersey\, was discovered by George Paxton\, the president of Coed Records and former big band leader from the 1940’s. Impressed with THE DUPREES’s smooth vocal quality\, he had them record Jo Stafford’s 1950’s ballad “YOU BELONG TO ME” with a Big Band arrangement. It was an instant national hit and the group’s first Million Seller. The unmistakable sound of THE DUPREES was born and the hits kept rolling! \nClick here for tickets!

SUMMARY:Rainbow Full of Sound at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman
DESCRIPTION:Rainbow Full of Sound\nJune 25\, 2022 at 8PM \nIt’s a language all its own\, one that hundreds of musicians across the country can play—and Dead Heads can dance to. And Waynard and RFoS is a band that’s increasingly going to be reckoned with. \nWaynard Scheller and Rainbow Full of Sound (RFoS) play Grateful Dead songs\, and they’ve been doing so for a while – 300 shows’ worth. But this spring’s tour will come with a very special twist: they are going to re-create the Dead’s legendary 1972 tour of Europe\, tracing the path of twenty-one shows from England to Denmark to Germany to France to the Netherlands and back to England. \nAppropriately\, RFoS began as a one-off experiment in 2012 when a gang of Dead Heads decided to play the entire 1980 Radio City Music Hall run. It was so much fun that it took on a life of its own\, with a rotating cast that keeps it fresh. \nThe one consistent link is Waynard\, who fell in with one of the oldest Dead-oriented bands\, the former Zen Tricksters of Long Island\, and they toured for some time as Jam Stampede. \nHe met John Kadlecik\, formerly of Dark Star Orchestra and then Furthur\, and worked on three tours with him. \nOne day he got a call to play a show in a crypt at the Church of the Intercession in Trinity Cemetery\, New York City\, in the process meeting Zach Nugent (then with Melvin Seals and JGB) and Kenny Brooks (formerly with Bob Weir in RatDog). His name spread around GD circles\, and he played with Weir himself in an SF Bay-Area benefit for the Jerry Garcia Foundation called “Imagine There’s No Hunger\,” and after hitting it off with him\, on several other shows. Working with the Foundation brought him into contact with Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady\, and then another path to Jason Crosby and Grahame Lesh of the Lesh Family Band…and the road goes on. \nBruce Hornsby once remarked that Grateful Dead songs had become “hymns” – in fact\, they really are the new canon of traditional American music. Their appeal\, Waynard says\, is two-fold; there’s the sheer eclectic gumbo of bluegrass\, jazz\, blues\, R & B and you-name-it that is fused into what they did\, what the songs represent—but “best of all is the improvisational nature of the music\, the opportunity to explore the unknown\, to have no earthly idea what will come next\, which is the most inspiring part of it.” \nIt’s a language all its own\, one that hundreds of musicians across the country can play—and Dead Heads can dance to. And Waynard and RFoS is a band that’s increasingly going to be reckoned with. \nListen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edBSxBzQmW4

SUMMARY:Jimi Hendrix: Kiss the Sky at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman
DESCRIPTION:Jimi Hendrix: Kiss the Sky\nJune 19\, 2022 at 6PM \nKiss The Sky -The Jimi Hendrix Re-Experience – is the premiere authentic and most historically accurate Jimi Hendrix tribute show ever! Starring Jimy Bleu\, the world’s longest running Hendrix tribute artist who just like Jimi himself\, is also a left-handed virtuoso guitarist that wows audiences by re-creating all of Hendrix’s signature stage moves… playing behind his head\, back\, between his legs\, and with his teeth! \nKiss The Sky is the only Hendrix show in the world with spot-on look-a-like & sound-a-like performing musicians representing both of Hendrix’s backing groups\, the Experience and the Band of Gypsys. KTS is also the only Hendrix show ever to feature meticulously replicated custom clothes & instruments like those actually worn and played by Jimi Hendrix and his bandmates in the 1960s at his iconic concerts like Monterey Pop\, The Band of Gypsys\, Woodstock\, and The Isle of Wight. The look and sound of the stage performers are so realistic it transforms audiences right back to feeling they are actually at Hendrix concerts from the 60s. \nClick here to get tickets!
