DESCRIPTION:This exhibition in the Down Jersey Folklife Center at WheatonArts features paj ntaub artworks and jewelry created by Hmong master artist and teacher\, Pang Xiong Sirirathasuk Sikoun. Many of Pang Xiong’s paj ntaub works on display are created as “story cloths\,” incorporating figurative and symbolic images to provide visual narratives on a wide range of themes—folk tales and legends\, depictions of Hmong family clans\, nature; stories of the Hmong peoples’ migrations\, wars\, and painful journeys from farming villages to refugee camps. Pang Xiong’s visual representations of the Hmong oral history\, folklore and life experiences are both educational and inspiring. Open October 4 through December 31\, 2019\, Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. \nThe “Embroidered Stories: Hmong Fiber Arts” exhibit is part of the Down Jersey Folklife Center’s “Near and Far: Arts and Cultures of East Asia” project\, presented in partnership with Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission and Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs. Major support for this partnership project has been provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Additional project support provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.

SUMMARY:The Pitman Art Stroll
DESCRIPTION:The Pitman Art Stroll\, hosted by Pitman Gallery & Art Center\, is a sidewalk show\, and its venue is in the heart of Uptown Pitman on Broadway. Art will be shown as 24″x36″ posters that are displayed on the lamp posts along both sides of Broadway\, starting at Laurel Avenue and ending at Holly Avenue. Selected artwork originals will also be exhibited at Pitman Gallery & Art Center from September 1st to September 30th. \nThe outdoor exhibit will take place throughout the month of September 2019 and will be on display during the Pitman Craft Fair\, which attracts upwards of 10\,000 shoppers. SUMMARY:American Color Print Society Group Exhibit 
DESCRIPTION:Main Gallery –American Color Print Society Group Exhibit\nFounded in 1939 in Philadelphia\, PA. At that time\, the typical print was a black and white etching\,\nwith very little chance of a color print passing a jury. In 1940\, 85 artist members staged the first National\nColor Print Exhibition at the Philadelphia Print Club\, now The Print Center. This opened printmaking to\ncolor and allowed for the experimentation that is part of our tradition today. Entries will be shipped in from all over the country as well as regional print makers’ works. This show will be judged and winners announced at 7:00 during the opening reception\, Friday August 16th. \nWitt Gallery – “The Photo Finessed” Group show\, featuring digitally enhanced art photography \nAtrium – Jenson Cheng – Aesthetics and Meanings (traveling exhibit\, part of the Down Jersey Folklife Center’s “Near and Far: Arts and Cultures of East Asia” project.) \nAssociate Artist Alcove: Doreen Khebzou & Elizabeth Regan \nDuring our opening reception\, live music provided by Train Wreck \nPlease join Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts exhibit opening on Friday\, August 16\, from 6pm to 9pm featuring live music.

The Maurice River School of Painters group exhibit opens Friday\, July 19 in our main gallery. \nThe Third Friday opening culminates the weeklong en plein air workshop\, which features an outstanding line-up of instructors such as Stan Sperlak\, Al Gury\, Bill Ternay\, Larry Francis\, Jill A. Rupinski\, Nancy Witt Mulick\, and Pat Witt. \nInstructors and painters will display several works of art of their scenes along The Maurice River. \nThe group also gives us an opportunity to see the artistic process with an exhibit of studies created during the current week long workshop. These studies will be on display in the atrium gallery space. Witt Gallery exhibit for July features our student artists from Art Creates Excellence Summer art camp. \nThis program\, in it’s 20th year\, provides opportunity for youth to spend 4 weeks creating a wide variety of art projects. \nCome out from 6 PM – 9 PM for live music provided by DB-us\, light refreshments\, and a chance to meet the artists. Visit our second floor working artists studios\, and be a part of our artists’ community here at the RRCA – YOUR community art center.
