SUMMARY:Riverfront Renaissance Third Friday
DESCRIPTION:Third Friday Art Opening\, Friday August 17th – Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts\, 22 N. High Street\, Millville\, NJ Open from 6 – 9 with live music\, refreshments and artists on hand to meet and greet to discuss their art. Exhibits this month: Low Brow Art\, “Midsummer Night’s Dream”\, “Secret Life of Pets” and Associate Artists Cheryl Knowles-Harrigan and Rita Michalenko. \n\n\n\nThis month\, in our North Gallery\, we feature South Jersey Low Brow artists\, aka pop surrealists. The pop surrealism art movement began in the 1970’s when west coast alternative galleries began showcasing underground artists…often illustrators\, tattoo artists and cartoonists. These artists wrote their own rules\, and did not concern themselves with fitting into the traditional art world. The term “Low Brow” was used to describe a stuffy art critic’s reaction to the unusual\, rule breaking art – the lowered eyebrow & scowl when viewing the unexpected subject matter depicted through fine art techniques. \nOpening on Friday\, August 17th\, and running through September 11\, this group show features: Mike Bell\, Tania Pomales\, Frank Nardi\, Eric Hooven\, Cindy Magee\, Sydnei Smithjordan\, and Fred Kramer.\nLive music Friday\, August 17th from 6 – 9\, by Hedera. \nIn our Witt Gallery: \nMidsummer Night’s Dream \n\nThis month’s open call for art in our Witt Gallery\, celebrates Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” through visual art. From fairies to nightscapes\, this show will fill your summer days with thoughts of whimsy.\nAwards will be presented at 7:30 \n\n\n  \nAtrium:\nSecret Life of Pets\nby Helen Clymer & Kevin Quigley\n \n  \n\n  \nAssociate Artist Alcove:\nCheryl Knowles-Harrigan & Rita Michalenko\n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Borough of Glass Festival: ArtWalk & Night Market
DESCRIPTION:Dates:\n\n07/21/2018\n\n\n\nTimes:\n\n5:00 pm – 10:00 pm\n\n\n\nEvent URL:\n\nwww.glassboro.org\n\n\n\n\n\nThis inaugural art festival and market will be marked with a special dedication of a commissioned bronze statue standing at 10 feet tall\, weighing over 600 lbs\, and will blend LED technology which will enable his glass creation to glow from within and be visible from a distance. \nOn July 21\, 2018\, the Borough of Glassboro will dedicate this bronze statue of our namesake\, the Glassblower\, to be made for the Town Square. Glassblowing is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble (or parison)\, with the aid of a blowpipe (or blow tube). A person who blows glass is called a glassblower\, glassmith\, or gaffer. \nThis inspiring festival will include dozens of local and area glassblowers\, sculptors\, painters\, metalsmiths\, and woodworkers\, plus a multitude of other handcrafters that will offer their items for sale and be demonstrating their skills and craftsmanship right before your eyes! The festival offers visitors the chance to browse a variety of goods while basking in a festival atmosphere full of food and other al fresco fun on Rowan Boulevard and the Town Square. \nFamilies are invited to enjoy art-making workshops; participate in a collaborative group chalk mural project\, interact with artists\, create\, and see demonstrations that emphasize the way art keeps everyone connected to the past and improves the present\, and why preserving art is important for the future. \nLocation:\n1 High Street West Glassboro\, New Jersey

SUMMARY:Riverfront Renaissance Third Friday!
DESCRIPTION:July 20\, 2018\n\n\n Third Friday!\n\n\n6pm – 9pm\n\n\n\nVisit the North Gallery this month for an intriguing photographic experience. \nIn Joeph Podlesnik’s work\, three worlds coalesce: an interior space\, a picture-taker and a backdrop\, all reflected and captured in-camera in one image. For him\, the challenge is to notice when these three visual worlds come together to form surprising pictorial patterns. \nThey are part self-portrait\, part interior and part landscape. Overall\, his work is guided by the idea that photographs are not only windows through which to see and document familiar images of the world\, but that photographs can stunt/block\, comment on or reenact the seeing process itself. \n\n\n“Seer Unknown IV 2018” by Joseph Podlesnik \n \nDomestic 2016 by Joseph Podlesnik \n \n\n\nFeatured in the\nAssociate Artist Alcove:\n Rae Jaffe & Mary Ann Kline\n\n\n\nSitting in the Shade by Mary Ann Kline \n  \nAtrium:\nMaurice River Painters Group\nSummer Workshop 2018 Studies\n\n\n\n\nThird Friday Live Music provided by\nMark Pasquini

SUMMARY:Third Friday Art Openings
DESCRIPTION:RRCA Showcases the Performing Arts with “Music” and “Dance” Inspired Art\nThird Friday Art Openings – June 15\, 6pm – 9pm \nWhat happens when you give artists the freedom to be inspired by two simple words\, that represent movement and emotion? Very intriguing entries will be on display in two unique shows opening on Third Friday\, June 15th. In our North Gallery\, our open call for art has allowed artists to enter work that is inspired by the sounds and feelings of the harmonies of song\, while in our Witt Gallery\, the movement of the body through dance is represented. Both exhibits are open to all art mediums\, and include sculptured instruments\, photography\, and traditional art mediums. \nAssociate Artist Alcove:Each month\, two of RRCA’s top tier artist members show work in our alcove.\nThis month\, painter Shirley Hawthorne will offer her series based on a trip to China.\nPamela Scribner\, a stained glass artist\, as well as a master pencil and ink artist\, brings a selection of her intricate works. \nAtrium: Lakeside Middle School’s 21st Century Afterschool program students were offered photography classes\, instructed by Dave Griffin\, and the results of their sessions will be on display through the month. \nPlease join Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts exhibit opening on Friday\, June 15\, from 6pm to 9pm\, featuring music by Dan Godbey and Rich Fuller. \nRRCA is a non-profit\, community art center\, located in Millville\, NJ\, and provides opportunity to artists\, patrons and youth in our southern New Jersey region. The gallery is open 7 days per week\, from 11 – 5 Sunday through Thursday\, and 11 – 6 on Friday and Saturday. Join us every Third Friday of the month from 6 – 9 for new exhibit openings.
