SUMMARY:47th Annual Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival
DESCRIPTION:Full info on their website at: http://delawarevalleybluegrass.org/ \nThe Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music was founded in 1971 as a nonprofit\, all volunteer\, tax-exempt organization. Its purpose was\, and remains\, “to present and promote traditional American folk music”. Our first concert was with Ralph Stanley in January 1971. \nRalph and Bill Monroe asked us later that year if we would host the first bluegrass festival in the northeast United States. Thus was born the Delaware Bluegrass Festival on Labor Day Weekend 1972. That festival has become one of the nation’s premier Bluegrass events and continues until this day. Originally held in Bear\, Delaware\, the festival remained there until its move to the Salem County Fairgrounds near Woodstown\, New Jersey in 1990. Read more \n

SUMMARY:Atlantic County 4-H Fair
DESCRIPTION:Fun for the whole family. \nFull info at https://www.facebook.com/events/571601546540849/ \nThe 56th Atlantic County 4-H Fair kicks off Thursday\, August 9 and runs through Saturday\, August 11 at the David C. Wood 4-H Center & Fairgrounds on Route 50 in Mays Landing. The 4-H Fair is a celebration of the accomplishments of our 4-H members who have worked throughout the year learning more about their 4-H project and themselves through their club and other 4-H educational experiences. \nVisitors can see for themselves the original “maker movement” – hands-on\, learn-by-doing that has been the 4-H slogan since 1902 and part of the 4-H creed\, “I believe in the training of my HANDS for the ability it will give me to be helpful\, skillful\, and useful.” \nNew day for Chicken BBQ\, Saturday\, August 11\, starts at 4 p.m.The public is invited to enjoy the 4-H projects and demonstrations during the upcoming Atlantic County 4-H Fair\, August 9 -11\, that highlight the variety of “maker” activities they engage in all year round. Projects in the main building include all the “traditional” 4-H projects like baking\, preserving\, arts & crafts\, and fine arts but also robotics\, STEM\, and model railroad – all very much a part of the maker movement. Throughout the fairgrounds\, examples are found in the small engines\, composting\, and other projects. \nThe Fair still brings the feeling of an “old-time country fair\,” which is now a new experience for many as our county has fewer rural areas. They can see and interact with animals\, watch shows\, demonstrations\, and musical acts\, and look forward to the amusement rides. They can take part in Saturday’s public events – the Baby Parade\, Tractor Pull\, and Pet Parade – and each of the three days of Fair talk to members and volunteers. There is something for everyone! \nAdmission is FREE but there is a $4 parking fee. For more information contact the 4-H Office at 609-625-0056 before the Fair or 609-965-1677 during the Fair.

SUMMARY:Borough of Glass Festival: ArtWalk & Night Market
DESCRIPTION:Dates:\n\n07/21/2018\n\n\n\nTimes:\n\n5:00 pm – 10:00 pm\n\n\n\nEvent URL:\n\nwww.glassboro.org\n\n\n\n\n\nThis inaugural art festival and market will be marked with a special dedication of a commissioned bronze statue standing at 10 feet tall\, weighing over 600 lbs\, and will blend LED technology which will enable his glass creation to glow from within and be visible from a distance. \nOn July 21\, 2018\, the Borough of Glassboro will dedicate this bronze statue of our namesake\, the Glassblower\, to be made for the Town Square. Glassblowing is a glass forming technique that involves inflating molten glass into a bubble (or parison)\, with the aid of a blowpipe (or blow tube). A person who blows glass is called a glassblower\, glassmith\, or gaffer. \nThis inspiring festival will include dozens of local and area glassblowers\, sculptors\, painters\, metalsmiths\, and woodworkers\, plus a multitude of other handcrafters that will offer their items for sale and be demonstrating their skills and craftsmanship right before your eyes! The festival offers visitors the chance to browse a variety of goods while basking in a festival atmosphere full of food and other al fresco fun on Rowan Boulevard and the Town Square. \nFamilies are invited to enjoy art-making workshops; participate in a collaborative group chalk mural project\, interact with artists\, create\, and see demonstrations that emphasize the way art keeps everyone connected to the past and improves the present\, and why preserving art is important for the future. \nLocation:\n1 High Street West Glassboro\, New Jersey
