At Truvy’s beauty shop in Chinquapin\, Louisiana\, where anyone who is “anybody” comes to have their hair done\, the motto is: “There is no such thing as natural beauty.” These Louisianian women are all sass and brass. Witty Southern banter flows like refreshing sweet tea on a hot summer day. Through clouds of hairspray and over the buzz of blow dryers\, six Southern spitfires gather each week to gossip. But those bonds are about to be tested when these ladies face a life-changing event. The inspiration for both the 1989 and 2012 films of the same name\, Steel Magnolias is a hilarious story of love\, loss\, and enduring friendship. \nPost-Show Talkback Series: Following the May 12th\, 2018\, 2:00 pm performance of Steel Magnolias\, we will be having a talkback with select cast members and creative team members from our production. SUMMARY:Peter and the Wolf
DESCRIPTION:WheatonArts is hosting “Peter and the Wolf”\, a performance by the Pushcart Players in our Event Center. This performance will be held March 24 at 2 PM with free admission courtesy of the NJ Theater Alliance’s Stages Festival. This event is geared towards children but can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. \n\nThis tantalizing version of the classic Russian folktale brings together all the elements of growing up: daring\, defiance\, confidence\, and courage. \n“Peter and the Wolf” is an enchanting production set to the resplendent music by composer Sergei Prokofiev. Each character is represented by a different musical motif in this story of a spirited young boy who confronts the dangers of the forest with courage\, creativity\, and leadership. With a professional cast (Actors’ Equity Association) who employs various forms of puppetry\, singing\, and choreography\, “Peter and the Wolf” is a universal theatrical celebration that has toured nationally and abroad. \nThe themes of this story are what make it a timeless classic. Friendship and caring. Arrogance and prejudice. Youth and maturity. Conflict resolution and beauty in the natural order of life. All worthy of celebration! Filled with laughter and love\, friendship and feelings\, “Peter and the Wolf” offers something special for the whole family. \n  \nClick Here to Save Your Seat on the Registration Form!

SUMMARY:Gilbert Gottfried & Andy Julia
DESCRIPTION:At the young age of 15\, Gilbert Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mike nights in New York City and\, after a few short years\, became known around town as “the comedian’s comedian.” After spending several years mastering the art of stand-up comedy\, producers of the legendary NBC late night comedy show Saturday Night Live became aware of Gottfried and\, in 1980\, hired him as a cast member. It wasn’t until a few years later when his true notoriety would begin when MTV hired him for a series of improvised and hilarious promos for the newly formed channel. This led to several television appearances on “The Cosby Show” and “Late Night with David Letterman.” \nGottfried’s work in television soon led to roles in film. Most notable was his improvised scene as business manager Sidney Bernstein in the hit sequel “Beverly Hills Cop II\,” for which the New York Daily News said that “Gilbert Gottfried steals the picture with a single scene.” Aside from his glowing reputation in comedy clubs\, Gottfried began to gain a reputation as the king of quirky roles in both movies and television. He appeared in such movies as “Problem Child\,” “Problem Child II\,” “Look Who’s Talking II” and “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane.” He was also the host of the very popular late night movie series “USA Up All Night.” \nAfter his stellar performance as the wise cracking parrot\, IAGO\, in the Disney classic “Aladdin\,” Gottfried became one of the most recognizable voiceover talents. His signature voice can be heard in several commercials\, cartoons and movies\, including the frustrated duck in the AFLAC Insurance commercials. Gottfried also is the voice of DIGIT in the long running PBS Series “Cyberchase.” \nJoined by Southern New Jersey comedian and writer Andy Julia\, this will be a night you won’t want to miss.
