SUMMARY:Cuentos del Árbol at WheatonArts
DESCRIPTION:Cuentos del Árbol \nApril 15\, 2023 @1pm | WheatonArts \nA delightful bilingual musical drawn from Spanish and Latin American folklore\, this free public play is about 55 minutes long and appropriate for preschool children through fifth grade. “Cuentos del Árbol” is designed to bring Spanish to life and make theatre accessible to students\, parents\, and grandparents for whom English is a second language. \nThe centerpiece of all the “tales” is a tree (Un Árbol) that has sheltered\, shielded\, and nurtured countless characters who have passed her way over the years. The tree’s caretaker\, Arbolita\, shares four of these stories with Tomas\, a storyteller looking for tales for his collection. \nIt is brought to life by the Pushcart Players inside the WheatonArts Event Center. This performance at WheatonArts is part of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance 2023 Stages Festival\, a state-wide celebration of theatre. Made possible by support from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts\, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts; The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey; OceanFirst Foundation; Fund for the New Jersey Blind; New Jersey Manufacturers; and Customers Bank. Free on Saturday April 15\, 2023 at 1 p.m. \nClick HERE for more details about this event on WheatonArts’ website. \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County

SUMMARY:A Street Car Named Desire
DESCRIPTION:A Street Car Named Desire By Tennessee Williams | The Road Company\, Grand Theater \nMarch 12-26\, 2023 \nThis classic\, Pulitzer Prize winning play reveals to the very depths the character of Blanche DuBois\, a woman whose life has been undermined by her romantic illusions\, which lead her to reject—so far as possible—the realities of life with which she is faced and which she consistently ignores. The pressure brought to bear upon her by her sister\, with whom she goes to live in New Orleans\, intensified by the earthy and extremely “normal” young husband of the latter\, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusion and\, in the end\, to madness. You won’t want to miss this amazing\, famous\, tragic tale. \nClick HERE to get your tickets now! \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County

SUMMARY:Billy Elliot The Musical
DESCRIPTION:Billy Elliot The Musical \nMarch 3rd – 26th\, 2023 \nBroadway Theatre of Pitman \nBilly Elliot tells the story of a young boy from a coal mining village in northeast England who transcends class and circumstance to become a ballet star. The musical is set against the backdrop of the 1984-5 miners strike\, which tragically affects the whole village. Billy is looked after by his father\, brother\, and grandfather\, after his mother’s death a few years earlier. \nThey are not well off and have no experience with\, or tolerance for\, the arts. His dad and brother are totally against the idea of him learning to dance but Billy finds himself drawn towards the ballet world. As a result\, Billy is forced to take his boxing lesson money and use it secretly for dance lessons from local dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson. She quickly notices that Billy is a prodigy and takes him under her wing. \nSoon\, despite his family’s resistance\, Mrs. Wilkinson manages to get Billy an audition with The Royal Ballet School in London. The village learns to overcome their ill-founded prejudices and\, along with Billy’s father\, come around to support Billy’s dream to become a dancer as Billy defies the odds and is finally accepted into The Royal Ballet School. \nClick HERE to get your tickets! \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County

SUMMARY:Into the Woods at Levoy Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Into the Woods at Levoy Theatre \nJanuary 13\, 2022 @7pm \nTriple Threat Workshop Presents: Into the Woods \nMusic and Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM\nBook by JAMES LAPINE\nOriginally Directed on Broadway by James Lapine\nOrchestrations by Jonathan Tunick \nInto the Woods follows a host of fairytale characters pursuing their happily ever after: A Baker and his wife\, who wish to have a child; Cinderella\, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack\, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse\, the two set off on a journey to break the enchantment. Each must learn the responsibility of wishes that come true\, the consequences of choices made in each passing moment\, and ultimately the stories we choose to tell our children. \nJames Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical brings everyone’s favorite storybook characters together in a timeless-yet-relevant piece\, making for a rare modern classic. Filled with the music we love\, the stories we’ve known… or perhaps the ones we thought we knew. Presented in the round with limited seating\, Triple Threat Workshop’s witty reinvention of this musical favorite is sure to be a magical trip “into the woods\, and out of the woods\, and home before dark!” \nInto the Woods is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
