SUMMARY:Wear Purple Day
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 13\, 2018 \nThe Cumberland County Department of Human Services\, Cumberland County Municipal Alliances and the Board of Chosen Freeholders now join the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence\, Inc. (NCADD) and do hereby proclaim that April 2018 is Alcohol Awareness Month and declare April 13\, 2018 as “Wear Purple Day” in Cumberland County. \nPurple was chosen by NCADD because it is a color similar to the amethyst. According to NCADD\, amethyst is the most beautiful and valuable form of Quartz. The word “amethyst” comes from the Greek\, “without drunkenness” and in ancient times anyone carrying this stone could not become intoxicated. By wearing amethyst\, a person announces that they know someone whose life has been improved through alcoholism treatment. . We are encouraging our community members to join us and acknowledge the importance of alcohol awareness by wearing purple on April 13th . \nSend your selfies\, group pictures and other purple ideas to ashleighhu@co.cumberland.nj.us so we can post them on our Facebook page!

SUMMARY:Go Blue Day
DESCRIPTION:Help raise awareness and money for child advocacy!\nWe will be holding our Annual Go Blue Campaign to help raise money and awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month this April. We are asking for help from our friends and community to “Go Blue” by having your workplace commit to a day in April and donate $1-5 to wear blue or “dress down”. The money raised will help our nonprofit in many ways! It costs approximately $1\,300 a year (or $108 a month) to advocate for one child. Even with volunteer advocates there are costs associated with: volunteer training\, administration and support cost\, volunteer appreciation and outreach cost. \nIf interested\, contact Hillary with any questions\, (856) 521-0734 or hillary@casaofcgs.org \n#Blue4CASAofCGS\nStep 1\nVisit our Site: Learn more about who we are and how you can help abused and neglected children in our three counties for Child Abuse Awareness month. \nStep 2\nCommit: Agree to wear blue or jeans during the month of April. Email Hillary\, hillary@casaofcgs.org \nStep 3\nRaise Money: Get work\, school and friends involved. Each person donates $5 to wear blue. Raise the most money for a special recognition! \nStep 4\nDonate & Share Pictures: Share pictures on social media sites with the hashtag #Blue4CASAofCGS \nStep 5\nTime to celebrate your achievement!
