SUMMARY:Million Meals Challenge

During the coronavirus pandemic\, the majority of network food banks are reporting a record increase in number of people requesting food assistance. Millions of people are requesting help from food banks for the first time. \nTo support our community\, Deptford Mall has partnered with South Jersey Dream Center to collect non-perishable food items. Donations are now being accepted through October 31st in Center Court and at Things Remembered. \n*Bring your food items to Things Remembered & Receive 25% off your in-store purchase. \nThe most urgently-needed items include:\nCanned vegetables & fruits\, canned and boxed meals (i.e.\, soup\, chili\, stew\, macaroni & cheese)\, canned or dried beans and peas (i.e.\, black\, pinto\, lentils)\, pasta\, rice\, low sugar cereals\, peanut butter\, baby formula & baby foods (check expiration dates)\, holiday foods (cranberry sauce\, dry stuffing mix\, cake mixes & frosting\, etc.\,instant mixes like potatoes\, gravies and sauces that add a little something special to a holiday meal\, canned meats (tuna\, chicken\, salmon) that do not require refrigeration before opening\, 100% fruit juice (canned\, plastic or boxed). \nIf you’re unable to provide food items\, we’re also accepting monetary donations on South Jersey Dream Center’s behalf. \nMAKE A MONETARY DONATION TO SOUTH JERSEY DREAM CENTER HERE \nWorking with our partner properties throughout the country\, we’re aiming to help serve a million meals to those in need. SUMMARY:Riverwalk at Millville Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Sept 22 – Friday Sept. 25 Millville Public Library will sponsor a series called Riverwalk near the library. RiverWalk is an interactive family event that promotes health and literacy for families. Sharing a story with a child teaches them to equate reading with affection\, making lifelong readers/learners. MPL has created a family activity that combines reading\, walking and observing our natural surroundings in the grassy area next to the library. Our aim is to promote conversation along with an outdoor adventure through an engaging story. \nThis RiverWalk book is titled “I Promise” by LeBron James. In this book\, LeBron James wants to encourage YOU to be successful and motivate us all to strive for greatness in everything we do. \nLook for the special code and come back into the library to share your discovery. The first four families will receive a copy of I Promise. Every child who participates will receive a free book from our cart. All of this is provided through funding from the Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
