DESCRIPTION:Please join us on August 17th to remember our good friend Dr. Fossil who passed away in 2017. Edward Lauginiger was a teacher\, an amateur paleontologist\, a member of the Delaware Mineralogical Society\, Inc.\, a volunteer at the Delaware Museum of Natural History and also a HUGE toy collector. Ed especially loved GI Joe and Star Wars and had a soft spot for Jurassic Park and dinosaurs in general. He even discovered a new species of ancient animal fossil that’s named after him! \nWe were all incredibly saddened by Ed’s passing and would like to invite both those who knew him and strangers alike to celebrate and honor him for his birthday! \nSo … how are we celebrating the life of a real-world John Hammond?\nFirstly\, we were lucky enough to acquire some items from Ed’s personal collection which will be on display\, including Ripley the Life-Sized Raptor\, now in her new forever-home! \nIn addition\, Ed often treated kids at the Delaware Museum of Natural History with free dino toys\, and in his honor we will be doing the same (while supplies last)! \nAND we’ll also be screening some of Ed’s favorite films including Jurassic Park! \nFREE dinosaur toys for the kids and Jurassic Park?! DESCRIPTION:Main Gallery –American Color Print Society Group Exhibit\nFounded in 1939 in Philadelphia\, PA. At that time\, the typical print was a black and white etching\,\nwith very little chance of a color print passing a jury. In 1940\, 85 artist members staged the first National\nColor Print Exhibition at the Philadelphia Print Club\, now The Print Center. This opened printmaking to\ncolor and allowed for the experimentation that is part of our tradition today. Entries will be shipped in from all over the country as well as regional print makers’ works. SUMMARY:Garden State Appaloosa Horse Show
DESCRIPTION:The Garden State Appaloosa Association was formed in 1991 as a merger of the New Jersey Appaloosa Association and the Tri State Appaloosa Association. Since the merger\, our membership has steadily grown and includes Appaloosa owners from Massachusetts to Florida. When the Association started\, it held only two multi-judge shows and a one-day single-judge show. We now hold three multi-judged shows each year in April\, August and October. Each one is a four-judge show and approved through the Appaloosa Horse Club in Moscow\, Idaho. These shows draw exhibitors from Maine to Florida to as far west as Ohio. Our shows are consistently among the largest and best attended. \nAppaloosa shows in the country. Over the last four years\, all three Garden State shows were ranked in the Top 10 in the country for attendance. GSAA’s goal has been to attract exhibitors to a nicely paced\, relaxed and enjoyable show. These clubs have many interests including showing\, trail riding\, riding in parades and participating in the many disciplines that the versatile Appaloosa horse can adapt to\, whether it is cattle events\, reining\, cutting\, jumping\, trail riding or pleasure events.

Take a hayride to the back orchard where you can pick from 3 types of plums. \nFortune Plum – Large attractive bright red with yellow plum. Firm flavorful\, semi freestone and a very nice desert plum. Very juicy when allowed to sit out and ripen fully\, but can be eaten firm.\nRuby Red Plum – Ruby is a Japanese hybrid plum\, sweet and juicy\, red flesh. Medium size and free stone. Can be eaten firm or fully ripen. Deliciously sweet\nVictory Plum – dark blue small to medium size plum. Yellow flesh\, very sweet and flavorful. Free stone and kids just love them! This plum often referred to as “The Italian plum”. One of Hill Creek Farms favorites! \nIn addition to plums\, we will be U-picking vegetables (Eggplant\, 5 types of pepper and Super sweet cherry tomatoes). \nWe may even be releasing our Gala apples for harvest this weekend\, they are a week ahead of last year and appear to be ready for harvest. DESCRIPTION:The 70th Atlantic County 4-H Fair kicks off Thursday\, August 8 and runs through Saturday\, August 10 at the David C. Wood 4-H Center & Fairgrounds on Route 50 in Mays Landing. The 4-H Fair is a celebration of the accomplishments of our 4-H members who have worked throughout the year learning more about their 4-H project and themselves through their club and other 4-H educational experiences. \nVisitors can see for themselves the original “maker movement” – hands-on\, learn-by-doing that has been the 4-H slogan since 1902 and part of the 4-H creed\, “I believe in the training of my HANDS for the ability it will give me to be helpful\, skillful\, and useful.” \nThe public is invited to enjoy the 4-H projects and demonstrations during the upcoming Atlantic County 4-H Fair\, August 8 -10\, that highlight the variety of “maker” activities they engage in all year round. Projects in the main building include all the “traditional” 4-H projects like baking\, preserving\, arts & crafts\, and fine arts but also robotics\, STEM\, and model railroad – all very much a part of the maker movement. Throughout the fairgrounds\, examples are found in the small engines\, composting\, and other projects. \nThe Fair still brings the feeling of an “old-time country fair\,” which is now a new experience for many as our county has fewer rural areas. They can see and interact with animals\, watch shows\, demonstrations\, and musical acts\, and look forward to the amusement rides. They can take part in Saturday’s public events – the Baby Parade\, Tractor Pull\, and Pet Parade – and each of the three days of Fair talk to members and volunteers.
