SUMMARY:Veterans' Advocate
DESCRIPTION:The Wilmington VA Southern New Jersey Outreach Team provides information and enrollment for Veterans and their Veteran Affairs Healthcare. They also partner with the New Jersey Department of Veteran Affairs and the Veteran Benefits Administration to help Veterans with claims to the VA. All in order to provide a “one-stop shop” for the Veterans of Southern New Jersey. The team is unique in the fact that Patrick Carney is an Operation Iraqi Freedom Combat Veteran and Jacqui Hinker is the spouse of a Iraqi Freedom Veteran. They both are also residents of Southern New Jersey. Their experiences outside of VA employment provide a much deeper level of understanding for each and every Veteran they encounter. \nCan’t make it this day? Join us on Friday\, July 26 from 4pm-8pm.

SUMMARY:Gloucester County Firefly Festival
DESCRIPTION:The festival includes a number of fun\, educational stations scattered along a three-quarter mile\, self-guided\, loop trail. We recommend people arrive between 8:00 and 8:15 p.m. and allow an hour to complete the walk. Some species appear at dusk; some appear later\, as it gets darker. Bring a flashlight. NO DOGS PLEASE. \nPoets\, scientists and people of all ages have long been fascinated by fireflies (lightning bugs). A familiar sight in some parts of the US\, fireflies are the fairies of summer nights. Viewing “nature’s light show” is part of the magic of growing up in New Jersey. But there are fewer and fewer fireflies. Join us as we explore the world of fireflies… the Night Country… and how you can help fireflies be a part of our landscape for years to come. \nWHERE: From Rt. 553 (Woodbury-Glassboro Rd) turn west onto Bark Bridge Rd. Park in the lot on the left. The loop trail begins and ends here at a Welcome Tent. Please car pool\, as space for parking is limited. \nREGISTRATION: Attendance is free but we request that people pre-register so we can anticipate numbers. Please email to: [masked] Tell your name\, number of people in your group\, number of children. \nRAIN DATE: Sunday\, June 30th\, same times.

SUMMARY:Thoroughly Modern Millie
DESCRIPTION:This toe-tapping belt out loud musical comedy tells the story of a small-town girl who comes to NYC in 1922\, excited to enter the workforce. Sutton Foster starred in 2002 on Broadway and belted “Gimmie Gimmie” and “Forget About the Boy” into modern day classics. Millie delights in the new flapper lifestyle\, but problems arise when she checks into a shady hotel owned by a Chinese woman and her assistants\, Ching Ho and Bung Foo. The other female hotel guests are equally colorful and fun. Romance arises when Millie falls for her boss\, but ultimately belongs with her best friend\, who loves her. Over the top\, comic pastiche\, this show is colorful\, bright and filled with exciting dance numbers. \nJune 28th- July 21st

SUMMARY:Peter Yarrow
DESCRIPTION:Legendary musician Peter Yarrow weaves a narrative of his life in music and politics\, punctuating the major events with renditions of the iconic songs we all know and love. From his life in Greenwich Village in the 1960’s\, his connections to Bob Dylan & Pete Seeger and his career as part of the trio Peter\, Paul & Mary\, Peter Yarrow shares a part of American history heavily influenced by music. He creates community within his audiences through his reflections in both words and music. \nPeter\, Paul and Mary played their first show at Greenwich Village’s Bitter End\, and their first album was released by Warner Brothers Records in 1962. The following year\, Yarrow wrote “Puff the Magic Dragon\,” which was based on a poem written in 1959 by Leonard Lipton\, a friend of Yarrow’s from Cornell. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard 100 chart. \nHere is how Peter describes the show: “Yes\, it will be nostalgic for many. But on another level\, it will bring them a sense of what is still possible. Yes\, they will sing ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane\,’ and I will give them a sense of the current history of what this music is doing\, and why it’s important. So\, it will be a history lesson\, it will be a singalong that inspires\, but it will also assert the importance of the continuation of this kind of music in people’s lives today. And where we’re going from here in those terms. It’s not necessarily a big lecture – it’s inherent in the music. They’ll get it. I know it\, ’cause that’s what I do.” \nDon’t miss your chance to see the iconic Peter Yarrow in concert with songs like\, “Puff The Magic Dragon\,” “Blowing In The Wind\,” “Leaving On A Jet Plane” and many more!\nJune 22\, 2019 • 8:00 pm
