SUMMARY:Alchemy of Adornment at WheatonArts
DESCRIPTION:Alchemy of Adornment at WheatonArts \nApril 1 – December 31\, 2023 | Thursdays – Sundays | 11am – 4pm \n‘Alchemy of Adornment” invites visitors to revel in the enchanting worlds of Philadelphia-based artist and educator Amber Cowan. Her lush assemblages lure the viewer into fanciful narratives rich with symbolism and themes of transformation\, femininity\, and nostalgia. View her work in the Museum of American Glass at WheatonArts from April through December 2023. \nPlan your visit at wheatonarts.org. SUMMARY:In The Heights
DESCRIPTION:In The Heights \nApril 21\, 2023 – May 14\, 2023 \nFridays\, Saturdays & Sundays at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman \nOver the course of the Tony award-winning musical\, In the Heights\, we encounter the many colorful residents of Washington Heights — a New York City neighborhood on the brink of change. Usnavi\, a first generation Dominican-American corner bodega owner\, and his friends and family are dealing with the pressures of rising rents and closing neighborhood businesses. \nAs one family struggles to figure out how to pay for an Ivy League tuition for their brilliant and hard-working daughter\, a young woman is trying to put a down payment on a new apartment\, and Usnavi himself is trying to get back to the Dominican Republic to reconnect with his roots after the death of his parents. \nIn Washington Heights\, community is everything\, and we see how each of these individuals struggles to survive and how these same individuals come together as a community to mourn their losses and rejoice in their triumphs.https://www.thebroadwaytheatre.org/show/in-the-heights/ \nOver the course of the show\, we see the hard-working residents of Washington Heights grapple with love and lust\, identity and racism\, all while the prospect of a winning lottery ticket hangs in the air\, potentially changing the livelihoods of the people and the community forever. \nThis revolutionary new musical combines Latin rhythms and dance with hip-hop lyrics to tell a captivating story about what it means to chase your dreams as you cling to your roots\, and to celebrate the community from which you grew. \nClick HERE to get your tickets now! \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County

SUMMARY:Jim Messina
DESCRIPTION:Jim Messina \nApril 16\, 2023 7:00 PM \nClick HERE to get your tickets now! \nAn undisputed expert in the fine art of making hit music\, Jim Messina’s legacy of musical genius spans five decades\, three super groups\, a vibrant solo career and scores of producing and engineering credits. \nWhile acting as producer/audio engineer for Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Buffalo Springfield\, Messina ultimately joined the band as its bass player. When “the Springfield” disbanded in 1968\, Jim and fellow bandmate Richie Furay formed Poco. With Jim on lead guitar\, Poco defined a new musical genre\, Country Rock. After three successful albums\, Jim was ready for a change and left to return to his passion for producing music. He signed as an independent producer with Columbia Records. \nIn November 1970\, the Columbia asked Jim to work with an unknown Kenny Loggins. While helping Kenny get ready for a record and touring\, the two discovered that they worked well together and Jim agreed to sit in on Kenny’s first album. Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin’ In was released in November of 1971 and an accidental duo was formed. \nOver the next seven years\, Loggins & Messina released eight hit albums\, had scores of hit songs and sold over 16 million albums. They had become one of rock’s most successful recording duos ever\, but it was time for the duo to go their separate ways. \nAfter a series of celebrated solo acoustic tours\, Jim formed a band made of acclaimed musicians who have played with him at various points in his career. His latest release\, In the Groove\, includes selected hits from all three of Jim’s previous bands\, as well as several of his solo works. \nTouring the country and playing sold-out shows\, Jim says that he’s enjoying discovering who he is\, where he’s been and\, most significantly\, where he’s going. \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County

Cowan transforms American-pressed glass into exuberantly adorned diorama-like wall installations and free-standing sculptures using the centuries-old techniques of glassblowing and flameworking. \nShe masterfully remelts and sculpts cullet (factory scrap glass) to create new elements and blends them with found\, sought\, and donated antique glass. Her lush assemblages lure the viewer into fanciful narratives rich with symbolism and themes of transformation\, femininity\, and nostalgia. View her work in the Museum of American Glass at WheatonArts from April through December 2023. \nPlan your visit at wheatonarts.org. April 1 through December 31\, 2023 – Open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. WheatonArts 1000 Village Drive\, Millville\, NJ 08332 \nClick HERE to see more event details. \nNew Jersey’s Heartland | Atlantic County\, Cumberland County\, Gloucester County\, Salem County
