A familiar adage states, “Men may work from sun to sun, but women’s work is never done.” In BLUE YONDER, the audience meets eleven mesmerizing (and sometimes eccentric) women including a flight instructor, a firefighter, a mother who misses her child, a woman who donates body parts, an employment counselor, a professional softball player, a nurse, a professional baseball player, a daredevil who plays with dynamite among others. Through the monologues, each woman examines her life’s work and explores the career that she has found. Or that has found her.
BLUE YONDER is produced in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Many extraordinary local actors star in BLUE YONDER, including Pamela Dollak, editor of Atlantic City Press’ At The Shore and Atlantic City Weekly. Parker. Ms. Dollak was recently seen in Fool Moon’s “Sylvia” and “Love, Loss and What I Wore.” Other Fool Moon veteran performers include Kate Read, most recently seen in “Sylvia” and “Our Town”, and Victoria Biron, Dayle Friedman, Jennifer Smith, Carrie Cohen, and Shirlee DiBacco. Fool Moon is happy to welcome Jamie Weinberg to the theatrical family.
Kate Aspengren’s plays have been produced by Actors Theatre of Louisville, the New American Comedy Festival, Six Figures Theatre Company (NY) and 3Graces (NY). A graduate of the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, Kate teaches playwriting at Coe College and teaches annually in the Iowa Summer Writing Festival.
“I am thrilled to be working with so many incredibly talented actors who celebrate what it means to be a woman in the 21st Century. BLUE YONDER is a wonderful exploration of the rich and varied lives of women today and an opportunity to showcase the actors’ talents and skills,” said Pattye Herron, co-founder of Fool Moon, and the show’s director.
