Heartland Hero Amanda Yerkes Has a Big Heart
Cumberland County’s Amanda Yerkes may only be in her early twenties, but she is an old soul. Yerkes is a Chick-fil-A employee where she has inspired and lead her fellow team for 6 years. She is well-known by many of her loyal customers and leaves a lasting impression with everyone she meets.
As the only girl in a family of 5 children, Amanda always had a strong sense of duty and responsibility to her family. After high school, Amanda attended Crown College with bright plans for her future. But when her father fell ill, Amanda knew she had to revise plans. After only one semester at Crown College, Amanda returned home and enrolled in Cumberland County Community College. While working at Chick-fil-A to support her family and her own college tuition, Amanda also finds the time to serve others. She is an active member in CCCC’s faith fellowship club and is currently raising funds for a mission trip to Haiti. She also volunteers for the local group, My Sister’s Kids, which provides grief counseling to children who experienced loss.
Amanda is a three-time recipient of Chick-fil-A scholarships, including her most recent award of $25,000 as their True Inspiration Scholar. Upon completion of her Associate’s Degree at Cumberland County Community College, Amanda will pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Stockton University.
Her dedication to her family, community and her tenacious pursuit of her education has earned her the honor of Heartland Hero. We are so proud of her contribution to her community. She is a true Heartland Hero.
