Heartland Hero Dr. Alicia Monroe

Dr. Alicia Monroe of Gloucester County developed the STEAM Academy for the First Star Academy at Rowan University, which is designed to integrate project based learning into the core curriculum of the Academy. This real-world approach to service learning has had an extraordinary impact on the growth and development of our students.

We created “Heartland Heroes” to shine a spotlight on individuals and groups of people who have made a special contribution to New Jersey’s Heartland. Heartland Heroes will be recognized here and in New Jersey’s Heartland social media. They will also receive a special “Heartland Heroes Certificate of Appreciation,” as well as a token of gratitude from New Jersey’s Heartland.
