How to Vote in NJ Heartland
We the People are less than one month away from Election Day, so it’s important you have the tools you need to cast your ballot on this historic day. To register online, go to www.Vote.NJ.Gov, or for more election information by county, please visit:

In this article, you have all the information you need at your fingertips. By now you should have received your ballot in the mail if you are registered to vote. The close of voter registration for New Jersey is October 13th, so if you are not previously registered, be sure to do so as soon as possible since tomorrow (October 13th) is the last day!
To register in New Jersey, you must be:
- A United States citizen
- At least 17 years old, though you cannot vote until you have reached the age of 18
- A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
- A person not serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction of any indictable offense under the laws of this or another state or of the United States.
Not registered? With just a few clicks and keystrokes, you can be easily registered online. There are three ways to register to vote in the state of New Jersey.
- You can fill out and sign a paper registration form
- You can register at your nearest Motor Vehicle Commission
- As of September 4, 2020, you can now register online at www.Vote.NJ.Gov
If you choose to register online, you will need a current and valid Driver’s License or non-driver Identification Card issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). Your information will be provided to the MVC to validate identification, and to retrieve a copy of your digitized signature. Or you can register online by providing the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number; however you must have the ability to sign on-screen or upload your signature to complete the registration process. If you are unable to upload your signature, you cannot register online using the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
Machine voting for the 2020 General Election is limited exclusively to voters who certify that their disability precludes them from voting a paper ballot. These voters will be able to vote using an accessible voting machine. Secure ballot drop boxes are located in key locations throughout each of New Jersey’s 21 Counties. Visit Vote.NJ.Gov or your county website for drop box locations.
Return your mail-in ballots via USPS, Ballot Drop Box locations, your county’s Board of Elections Office, or your polling place on Election Day. Return your ballot no later than 8:00pm on November 3rd, 2020.
Ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day, November 3, 2020. Deadline for receipt of timely post-marked mail-in ballots via USPS to County Boards of Election is November 10, 2020.
