Main Street Vineland Volunteers To Beautify Downtown And Mini-Parks On Spring Planting Day
Additional adult volunteers being sought for major beautification initiative
VINELAND, NJ—Main Street Vineland volunteers will be embarking on a major planting beautification project in downtown Vineland on a Saturday in May and they need your help.
Spring Planting Day will take place, rain or shine, on May 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Adult volunteers are being sought and will focus on planting flowers at the mini-parks at Landis Avenue and the Boulevard.
Areas of focus will be the various flower beds at the four corners and in the mini-parks, as well as around the fountains.
“The mini-parks have been a focal point for people visiting downtown Vineland—The Ave—and for people passing through the downtown. We are using the mini-parks more and more for events and want to make them look the best they can,” said Main Street Vineland Executive Director Russell Swanson.
Main Street Vineland has made these occasions community efforts over the years, Swanson said, involving volunteers from various groups, as well as other who came out to help, get exercise, and who enjoyed the idea of making the downtown look pretty.
“So, while you’re thinking of flowers for Mom for Mother’s Day that weekend, come with your green thumb and a whole heap of enthusiasm for making that weekend extra special—not only for Mom, but also for The Ave,” Swanson said.
Volunteers will meet at the mini-parks that morning. Gardener’s gloves and tools will be available—or volunteers can bring their own.
