MAIN STREET VINELAND VOLUNTEERS
TO BEAUTIFY DOWNTOWN AND MINI-PARKS
ON SPRING PLANTING DAY MAY 14
Additional adult volunteers being sought for major beautification initiative
Main Street Vineland volunteers will be embarking on a major planting beautification project in downtown Vineland on a Saturday in May and they need your help.
Spring Planting Day will take place, rain or shine, on May 14, starting at 8 a.m. Adult volunteers are being sought and will focus on planting flowers at the mini-parks at Landis Avenue and the Boulevard.
Areas of focus will be the various flower beds at the four corners and in the mini-parks, around the fountains, and in other areas in the downtown.
“The mini-parks have been a focal point for people visiting downtown Vineland—The Ave—and for people passing through the downtown. We are using the mini-parks more and more for events and want to make them look the best they can,” said Main Street Vineland Executive Director Russell Swanson. “We also have other locations along The Ave that are made more beautiful with flowers.
Andre Rivera, Main Street Vineland Promotions Team Chairperson and Vineland Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) District Liaison is coordinating this initiative.
Main Street Vineland has made these occasions community efforts over the years, Swanson said, involving volunteers from various groups, as well as other who came out to help, get exercise, and who enjoyed the idea of making the downtown look pretty.
“So, come with your green thumb and a whole heap of enthusiasm for making that weekend extra special for The Ave,” Swanson said.
Volunteers will meet at the military mural, in the southwest mini-park, Landis Avenue and the Boulevard. Gardener’s gloves and tools will be available—or volunteers can bring their own.
