Memoirs of an Invisible Child: Hope in the Darkness Exhibition opens October 5, 2018

Sponsored by Octopus Garden, Kelly Walk Hines will be holding an exhibition for her book, Memoirs of an Invisible Child, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. “Memoirs of an Invisible Child” is a new Amazon best seller autobiography about Kelly Walk Hines, recounting her continued recovery from losing her mother from domestic violence and the continued abuse and witnessing of abuse from childhood onward. Despite everything, she found a light where most would only see darkness. She used her trauma and life experiences to create a book that brings firsthand advice to abuse victims, filled with love, understanding, and honest truth. She recently received a title of New Jersey Heartland Hero and has appeared on Intentional Beings with Moe Amar and It’s Your Time South Jersey.

The exhibition will be held Thurs-Sun the month of October and will be located at the Village Gallery in the Village on High, next to Octopus Garden. The exhibit will be titled “Hope in the Darkness” and will open on October 4, 2018. It will feature a showcase of keepsakes mentioned in the book as well as a multimedia exhibit including artwork by Samantha Hines and photography by Jeffrey Hines Jr. Also featured will be a book signing and talk with the author of Memoirs of an Invisible Child, Kelly Walk Hines. Books will be available for purchase and signing, those with books may bring their copy to be signed.

To officially celebrate the “Hope in the Darkness” exhibit, there will be a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 19, 2018 at the Village Gallery, open to the public. Special reception events will include a book reading, open discussions with the author, and light refreshments. A portion of all proceeds will go toward creating workbooks for domestic violence victims free of charge upon publishing of the materials.

An advocate from SERV will also be present at different times during the event to give further insight into the importance of domestic, sexual, and child abuse awareness.
