NJ Heartland Attends Appel Farm Music and Wine Festival
What better way to spend a sunny Saturday than to be outside sampling local wines and enjoying family fun?
This past weekend, The New Jersey Heartland team attended the Appel Farm Music and Wine Festival in Elmer, New Jersey to offer Heartland visitors and residents an opportunity to spin the “Pick Your Prize” wheel as they enjoyed local wine and entertainment. Hundreds of people flocked to the event to taste samples from over fifteen different wineries based out of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.
While adults enjoyed the tasting aspect of the event, children flocked to the Bank of America Kids Zone where they could create wine-inspired art, jump in the moon bounce, or even perform on a small stage in front of family and friends. Visitors wanting lunch or just a snack could pick from a variety of different food trucks, including Brother Bear’s BBQ & Catering, Bonjour Creperie, Stewart’s Root Beer, Dino’s Ice Cream Truck, and more.
Appel Farm stayed true to its roots by hosting five different local performers on its stage during the festival. Albert and Clare Appel opened the center in 1960 to bring their rural community together to learn about and participate in the arts. For the past 56 years, Appel Farm has stayed true to its original mission by providing numerous opportunities for locals to explore both the fine and performing arts. Festival attendees of all ages enjoyed the music, some even bringing beach and lawn chairs to sit in front of the main stage. Ginger Coyle, Nancy Micciulla, No Good Sister, Steppin’ Razor and the Joe DiVita Steel Drums were all well received by the joyous crowd.
The New Jersey’s Heartland tent was a popular spot for visitors to step out of the sun and learn more about the organization. We were delighted to see both new and old faces pop in throughout the day. Attendees of all ages were excited to spin the wheel to win one of the many awesome prizes NJ Heartland had to offer. As always, everyone walked away a winner!
