Notice of Funding Availability
I am writing to let you know about an important Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) that was issued today by the state Department of Human Services Division of Disability Services that is designed to provide funding opportunities to communities and organizations in New Jersey to promote inclusive practices that support the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities in the communities where they live.
The Inclusive Healthy Communities (IHC) Grant Program NOFA will provide grant funds for two possible grant options: Capacity Building or Implementation, both of which are intended to address three mutually reinforcing, specific objectives and with the broad focus on all people with disabilities, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, immigration status and/or income:
- Adoption of processes that are inclusive of people with disabilities as part of efforts to plan and create healthy communities.
- Planning and implementation of lasting strategies that deliver the benefits of healthy communities to people with disabilities; and
- Advancement of sustainable practice, systems, and environmental change that address the pre-existing physical, environmental, social, and economic challenges that prevent people with disabilities from having full access to the conditions that support health and well-being.
The NOFA can be found at: https://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/providers/grants/nofa/. DHS has engaged the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, to coordinate the IHC Grant Program and offer Technical Assistance (TA) and support to interested bidders and awardees. The Bloustein School has established the following website with information about the IHC Grant Program along with the NOFA, RFP, resources, and application templates: http://eac.rutgers.edu/ihc-grant-program/.
Potential bidders are advised to note that all applicants must:
- Attend at least one of three identical workshops that are being hosted by the Bloustein School on October 13, 15 and 19. A link to registration for the workshops is on the Bloustein School IHC Grant Program website
