Presentation on 19th Century Grenloch Factory given at the Olde Stone House Village
Jason Klein, a collector of memorabilia from the Bateman Iron Age Implements works, gave an interesting and thorough presentation on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Olde Stone House Village. The Bateman Iron Age Implements Works manufactured farm tools and even a car or two beginning in 1836 until the late 1920s.
This international business would bring the railroad to Grenloch Terrace, provide solid employment for locals, and sponsor the Grenloch Lake Park amusement park.
Mr. Klein has been collecting and restoring 19th century plows and various types of cultivators for a number of years and after a slide show outlining the history of the factory, shared these with the audience. He also had many catalogs, print blocks, letters, and other material from the Bateman Works. This factory manufactured the first front wheel drive in America.
The Open House and history talk were sponsored by the Friends of the Olde Stone House Village, a nonprofit group of volunteers who support the village.
Made possible by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
