Small Business Saturday on November 24
Small Business Saturday will be held in Downtown Hammonton on November 24th all day. According to the Small Business Saturday website, the event was founded in 2010 to help businesses with their most pressing need, to get more customers. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This single day has grown into a powerful movement, with more people taking part than ever before. Businesses in Hammonton have been participating in this national celebration since its founding.
MainStreet Hammonton will sponsor a social media campaign leading up to Small Business Saturday: A digital image that includes the pledge “I pledge to shop small in downtown Hammonton” has been created to help promote this event. The downtown website and social media channels will make this image available and ask all customers, residents, friends and neighbors to share the image & take the pledge.
On November 24th shoppers will be offered the chance to snap a photo of themselves holding, a small “selfie prop” stating “I shopped small in Downtown Hammonton”. Each shopper will get a Small Business Saturday sticker too. “We are just trying to have some fun while encouraging the community to come out and shop small in their local community”, said Cassie Iacovelli, Executive Director of MainStreet Hammonton. “We all love our town and this is a day to show our support for the local businesses”.
Downtown Hammonton shops, restaurants, salons, services and arts venues will feature once a year specials, sales and giveaways throughout the day. Promotional flyers listing these specials will be available in many Downtown businesses. MainStreet Hammonton has also produced a NEW short video featuring Downtown Hammonton and its businesses to encourage residents of South Jersey to shop small and shop local on Small Business Saturday. The video and specials can be seen online at www.downtownhammonton.com and www.facebook.com/downtownhammonton.
