Take The “Buy Local” Pledge: Main Street Vineland And Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce Join In Urging Support Of Local Businesses
VINELAND, NJ— “Support local businesses. Their economic health is OUR economic health.”
That is the message being put forward as Main Street Vineland and the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce join in urging people to sign an online pledge to give local businesses their patronage and support, especially in these challenging economic times.
With the understanding that locally-owned businesses are vital to a community’s economic health and their owners are friends and neighbors who employ thousands of area residents, the public asked to pledge to:
- follow the instructions issued by Governor Phil Murphy’s office and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) with regard to social distancing so we can get “back to business” as soon as possible.
- support our local businesses that have been severely impacted by our country’s current health crisis, once they reopen for business.
- support those businesses that have been granted permission to remain open during the Governor’s Executive Order.
“This is so very important, not only to the economic health of our communities, but to the wellbeing of the people who make up the communities—those who rely on the businesses for goods and services, as well as for their livelihoods,” Main Street Vineland Executive Director Russell Swanson said.
Brick-and-mortar businesses take the biggest hit from times like this and need our unwavering support, according to Main Street Vineland Associate Director Robert Scarpa. “An economic shutdown of this length of time puts livelihoods on the line. We must remember the local businesses—not only now, but when during the period of recovery toward normalcy.”
Local businesses make up a major part of the economic engine of our city and county, as well as many others, according to Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dawn Hunter. “Show your loyalty and support by joining us in signing the pledge to show our local businesses that we have their back.”
