Taking Our Relief Efforts National
When the COVID-19 crisis intensified several weeks ago, Neighborhood Trust launched a cash relief effort generously funded by Humanity Forward and in partnership with SaverLife to provide $1,000 in cash relief to individuals like Nade and David in the Bronx. We paired these relief payments with financial coaching to ensure the most marginalized people can effectively access cash relief and use it to plan for the coming months.
The Bronx is one of the hardest-hit areas. Many residents are underbanked or unbanked, non-native English speakers, or face other challenges in accessing public relief funds. Our commitment to the people who need us most is expanding on a nationwide scale, thanks to several new partnerships:
- We are the designated financial coaching service for workers receiving cash relief from One Fair Wage, a national advocacy organization for tipped workers earning less than minimum wage.
- We are providing cash relief and coaching services to hundreds of home health aides, in collaboration with Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI).
- With Accion Opportunity Fund, Neighborhood Trust is bringing our services to small businesses and employees throughout California, including webinars for 150,000 people.
These partnerships ensure that Neighborhood Trust can reach more of the workers whose livelihoods have been severely compromised, who aren’t getting the help they need to survive, and who may not be able to access public relief funds.
We are forging ahead as quickly as we can, to get cash and coaching support to those most in need, leveraging employers and partners that connect us to the communities who will benefit most from our services. We are proud of all we’ve been able to do with your help. But the need is still growing, so please continue to support our work.
