This Week’s Salem County Fair Highlights Summer in the Heartland!
One of the best events of the summer can be found in New Jersey’s Heartland this week when the annual Salem County Fair opens its doors for four days of family fun August 7-10, 2018. Admission is free for the fair. There is a $10 fee for parking, which covers all four days.
As always, the fair will feature fun for everyone and every age, with live entertainment; livestock and commercial exhibits; 4H exhibits, competitions and demonstrations; home economics and vegetable exhibits and judging; a skillet throwing contest; pig scramble and races; pony rides; and a variety of demonstrations, including archery, ranch sorting and blacksmithing. And if you are into tractor pulls, this is definitely the place to be because the fair has two sizes of tractor pulls, one for adults and one for kids.
One of the annual highlights of the fair is the competition for the title of Salem County Fair Queen.
This year’s competition will be help on Tuesday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. as part of the opening night ceremonies. A total of 10 young women will compete for the crown and the honor to represent the Salem County Fair Association at various events throughout the year.
When you come to the fair, make sure to bring your appetite and reserve your spot to enjoy a delicious BBQ Dinner before or after strolling the exhibits. Wednesday night features BBQ Ribs, Thursday night BBQ Chicken and Friday a BBQ Ribs and Chicken Combo for those who love both. The BBQ dinners are offered from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day and cost $13 for adults and $8 for kids. Tickets may be reserved by calling the fair office at 856-769-0414.
