Tomer Gewirtzman Opens Bay Atlantic Symphony 2018-19 Concert Season

Arts and Culture are alive and thriving in New Jersey’s Heartland. From museums to classical music, you can find it all in the four-county region of Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester and Atlantic that comprise the Heartland of New Jersey.
On Saturday, October 27, 2018, the arts will reach new heights in New Jersey’s Heartland when the Bay Atlantic Symphony opens its 2018-19 season at the Landis Theater in Vineland with Debussy – Prelude to The Afternoon of a Faun, De Falla – Three-Cornered Hat: Suites 1 & 2, and Rachmaninoff – Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring world-renowned Israeli pianist Tomer Gewirtzman. Beguiling, magical, and at times even infernal, the season-opening selection promises to feature some of the most sensual music, filled with bold colors, spicy rhythms, and intoxicating harmonies. Bay Atlantic Symphony’s Musical Director Jed Gaylin will host a one-hour talk on the evening’s performance prior to the concert.
Heralded by The Washington Post as an artist of “formidable virtuosity and stylistic sensitivity,” Mr. Gewirtzman has moved audiences around the world, while performed recitals in London at Steinway Hall and in Paris at the Salle Cortot of the École Normale. He has played with Nikolai Petrov’s Kremlin Festival throughout Russia, while appearing as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra, the New Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Symphony Orchestra.
Last season, Mr. Gewirtzman made his New York recital debut on the Young Concert Artist (YCA) Series and in Washington D.C. on the YCA and Washington Performing Arts Series. In 2015, he was awarded First Prize as well as five performance prizes at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions.
