Travel to and from your workplace—or your favorite Heartland locale—is easier than ever with our community shuttle service
Whether you’re looking for a new job, a way to streamline your commute, or easier access to your favorite stores, you can take advantage of three community shuttles servicing Atlantic and Gloucester counties. The English Creek-Tilton Road, Rt. 54/40, and Pureland East-West Community Shuttles will meet all your transportation needs with free ride transfers, efficient hours, and reliable service. Filling an important gap in the region’s transportation network, these shuttles can connect you to a host of hiring businesses throughout South Jersey. In addition, the routes provide a means to reach medical services, shopping centers, schools, and more.
Serving Atlantic County residents, from Egg Harbor Township to Northfield, the ENGLISH CREEK-TILTON ROAD COMMUNITY SHUTTLE operates Monday through Saturday. At only $1 per ride, with free ride transfers to NJ Transit, the shuttle reaches over 400 area businesses. Recently added to the shuttle’s route is Egg Harbor Township Oak Tree Plaza, an expansive retail center and booming hub for jobs—specifically at the Walmart Supercenter. Employment opportunities along the English Creek-Tilton Road route include jobs at AtlantiCare, Harbor Freight Tools, ShopRite, and Starbucks.
Also serving Atlantic County is the RT. 54/40 COMMUNITY SHUTTLE, a free service operating Monday through Friday. The route runs from Hammonton Rail Station to Richland Village Shops, with connecting service to NJ Transit buses 553, 554, and AC Rail. Several restaurants are hiring in these communities, as are businesses such as AtlantiCare, Walmart, ShopRite, and Advance Auto Parts.
In Gloucester County, the PURELAND EAST-WEST COMMUNITY SHUTTLE, serves a 26-mile corridor spanning from the Avandale Park & Ride to the Pureland Industrial Complex. The shuttle operates Monday through Saturday and fares are $1 each way. Stops include Geet’s Diner & Bar in Williamstown, Gloucester County Library, and The Shoppes at Pureland. The shuttle provides access to major employers, from Rowan University to Liscio’s Bakery in Glassboro. Hiring businesses include Amazon, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, and select restaurant chains.
The shuttles were developed through collaboration between Cross County Connection and other stakeholders including South Jersey Transportation Authority, Atlantic County, Gloucester County, United Way of Gloucester County and The Pascale Sykes Foundation—who funded the projects, in part, through grants from their foundation. “This shuttle is more than just a shuttle,” said Frances Sykes of the Pascale Sykes Foundation. “Community forms on the bus, you see the same people over and over and you know who they are. I’ve seen a birthday celebrated on a bus.” Indeed, more than just a way to get around, the shuttles are a convenient connector between local families and hundreds of businesses throughout New Jersey’s Heartland.
