Weisman Children’s Medical Day Care Back in Full Swing!

Earlier this summer Weisman Children’s Medical Day Care reopened for the first time in over two years! While we offered virtual services throughout the pandemic, this summer was our first chance to reopen our physical medical day care facilities including our location in Vineland, New Jersey.

Medical day care is a program designed to offer nursing care to children who cannot attend a regular daycare program. Nursing care such as feeding tubes, medication administration, respiratory care and symptom monitoring are just a few of the services the medical daycare can provide.

“It was with great excitement that we reopened our pediatric medical day care programs on June 1, after being closed since March 2020. It is wonderful to see children’s smiling faces and hear their laughter in our classrooms every day. It was greatly missed by our staff,” said Diana Ciurczak, Medical Day Care Administrator, for Weisman Children’s Vineland.

Weisman Children’s Medical Day Care, for children birth to six years of age, provides medically fragile children a safe place to receive care, socialization, and have fun Monday through Friday. “It is so important that our children attend daily for their medical care by our nurses, and for socialization with their peers. So often children with special needs become isolated at home, and this was definitely true during the COVID-19 closure. The staff in medical day care work together with parents and the child’s physician to ensure they are meeting their developmental milestones. Our certified child life specialists plan activities and play to reach these goals in creative and fun ways,” continued Diana.

In addition to nursing care, our medical day care program also offers transportation to and from our locations, breakfast, lunch, and snacks, bi-lingual staff members, as well as physical, occupational, speech, and feeding therapy as needed.
